Teachers
Shelli Allen was born in Taylor, Arizona but grew up in the Gilbert area. She has lived
in Queen Creek for about eight years now. She is married to Matt Allen and has three
adorable boys; David, Jason, and Braydon. When she isn’t scrapbooking she enjoys
reading, camping, quad riding, and sewing. She also likes a good nap…don’t we all? She
describes her personality as being easily irritated, overly emotional, highly protective,
and borderline anal…want to be her friend? Shelli is very down to earth, and easy to talk
to. She truly cares deeply for others. She gets most of her scrapbooking inspiration
from magazines. She has been scrapbooking eleven years, and what she claims the
“right” way for about eight. She loves Heidi Swapp’s products, but still enjoys using the
basics. She can’t live without her paper trimmer, fine tip scissors, and Quickuts. Her
style of scrapbooking is very clean, simple, and quick. Shelli lives by the quote, “I’m
creative, you can’t expect me to be neat too!”
Heather Miner was born and raised in Texas. She has lived in Arizona for five years now, and
the Queen Creek area for six months. She is married to Clint Miner and they both have great,
fun-loving families. When she isn’t scrapbooking, she finds herself wrapped up in photography,
cooking, interior and floral design. She describes her personality as crazy! A little bit country
and a little bit rock and roll. Heather has been scrapbooking and crafting when she was in junior
high. She is inspired through fashion and nature. Her favorite scrapbooking celebrity is Cathy
Zilske. Her scrapbooking specialty is cards and altering. Heather’s favorite scrapbooking
product is Cat’s Eye Chalk Inks and Crate Paper. She lives by the quote, “ROCK ON!”
Leslie Herbert is from Morenci, Arizona but has lived in the Queen Creek area for seven years. She has been married
to Jim Herbert for 11 years, and between them they have three kids, and two grandchildren. Eric (27), Stephanie (28),
Zach (14) and granddaughters Taylor and Madison. She likes to be outdoors when she isn’t scrapbooking. Leslie
describes her personality as a little shy, little nerdy, helpful, friendly, sensitive and a big worrier. Leslie is a wonderful and
loyal friend. She cares for others and does all she can to help anyone she comes in contact in. She has been
scrapbooking since ’99 but got serious about it in ’01. Her specialty is mini books, she has even been published! Lately
found a passion for altering. Her favorite scrapbooking celebrity is Ali Edwards and her friends who scrapbook and
create. She is an idea book junky, and gets most of her inspiration from the books she has collected and from fellow
scrappers. Her scrapbooking style is simple yet vintage. Leslie’s favorite scrapbooking product is ribbon-you can never
have too much- and Crate Paper. She lives by the quote, “If you want to be happy- BE!”
Barbara Allen has lived in Arizona her entire life; she raised her family in Lehi-Mesa, and still lives there today.
She has been happily married to Dave Allen for fifty years! She has five wonderful children; Shirley, Shelly,
Clay, Leslie, and Daryl. From which she has fourteen grandkids, and is the great grandmother to four. From
experience, we know she is a GREAT grandma. Aside from spending time with her family she enjoys knitting,
quilting, cooking, beading, and all sorts of crafts. Anything that seems challenging, she enjoys attempting, and
always succeeds. She is a very loyal and loving friend. She LOVES to shop, going out to lunch, and spending
time with others. She is a great teacher, and enjoys helping others. She is inspired by others and their work. She
has been crafting since she can remember, and can do just about anything. Her favorite scrapbooking celebrities
include Chris Randall, Allison Tyler Jones, and Ellen Brownlee. Her absolute favorite products are Seven
Gypsies, Crate Paper, Cosmo Cricket, Daisy D’s, My Mind’s Eye, and Tim Holtz. Her style of scrapbooking
is altered, distressed, unique, and detailed. Barbara’s scrapbooking specialty is bookmaking. She lives by the
quote, “Live the dream that keeps coming back.”
Jessica Barnett was born and raised in Arizona. She lived in Mesa growing up and attended Dobson High School.
She has been married for five years to Glen Barnett. She has four cute boys; Brenden (11), Carter and Parker
(41/2), and Tucker (1). In her free time she likes sewing, quilting, knitting, and cake decorating. She describes her
personality as wacky, funny and easy going. Already we have learned Jessica is a lot of fun to be around, and is very
easy to talk to. She is inspired through magazines, and surfing the net. Ali Edwards is her favorite scrapbooking
celebrity. She has been scrapbooking for a little over five years, and has been a teacher/designer for about two.
Jessica loves working with acrylic albums and embellishments. Her all time favorite company is Hambly Studios. Her
scrapbook specialty is mini books, acrylic albums and simple pages. The quotes she lives by is, “Do unto others as
you would have done unto you.” and “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”
Molly Penrod was born in Mesa, Arizona and grew up in Queen Creek totalizing nineteen years. Her family is
important to her; she describes them as being out of control, happy and lots of fun. Molly enjoys shopping and
hanging out with friends when she isn’t scrapbooking or going to school. She has a bubbly and friendly
personality with a little sass; she’s the baby after all. Her favorite scrapbooking celebrity is Chris Randall, and
is inspired by idea books and other’s work. She has recently taken up scrapbooking as a hobby and loves
Basic Grey, Crate Paper, and Heidi Swapp. Molly’s scrapbooking specialty has become mini books and
kids classes. She lives by the quotes, “If life were easy, it wouldn’t be hard.” and "I may be a lefty, but I am
always right."
Eva Flake has been married for 15 years to her hubby James. Together they have 5 kids. 3 boys and 2 girls. Their ages are 13, 11,
9, 8 and 3. They moved out to Queen Creek 3 years ago from Mesa . They LOVE it here and are thrilled with the growth taking
place. She loves to tinker on the computer. She also loves photography. Eva said she realize that these are not related to
scrapbooking, but eventually, all of her interests seem to point back to her love of scrapbooking anyway! She would  like to say she
is a creative mess. She loves being creative and the mess seems to follow. She would say she is pretty easy to get along with. Eva
loves to visit with friends and hang out. She has many guilty pleasures like Diet Dr. Pepper, Reality TV, Cable News, (now she has
revealed too much, oops!). Eva is inspired by things outside the scrapping world. She loves to take field trips (at least thats whats
she call it) to Target, the mall, really anywhere she gets to see fresh new ideas for color, design and trends. Eva claims you can't go
wrong with a great stash of adhesive, cardstock and a cutter. Throw in some killer patterned papers and ribbons and she is one
happy camper! Eva has been teaching in this industry for over 7 years. She has taught for CKU's and trade shows all over the
country. Teaching is a passion of Eva's and she loves sharing knowledge of this industry with others. Her favorite class to teach is
computer classes. She loves the light bulb moments that happen in every class! KNOWLEDGE is POWER! When she first
started teaching, her specialty was distressing and aging (think tearing and chalking), but over the past 3 years, Eva has really
enjoyed jumping into the computer arena. Even though she teaches how to use the computer for your projects, the projects to stay
trendy and fun! Eva lives by the quote, "Enjoy the little things, for one day you look back and realize they were the big things."  
Caroline Miller has been married to Kale  for 8 years with two little girls; Grace 7 and Ava 3. She describes her
interests other than scrapbooking as, "I'm such a girl, I LOVE shopping especially at thrift stores, antique stores,
and the good old mall.  I love to travel and I dream of going to exotic places, I love to read, and create all kinds of art.
I am also interested in medicine.  In another life, I would have been a doctor.  I am currently trying to get a nursing
degree because that's as close as I'll get." Caroline describes her personality as, "I am the oldest of eight children
therefore I am bossy, controlling, responsible, energetic and usually need to have things my way.  On the good side, I
like to "get things done" and am very organized. I am loving, kind and friendly." She gets a lot of inspiration for her
projects learning from others. Caroline frequently take classes from many other artists, read lots of art magazines
and "surfs the web". Her  favorite products right now are chip board because you can manipulate it however you want
and most importantly, its cheap! She also loves using wax!  Wax is a new fav for Caroline, she has taken a few
classes from Tim Holtz and this medium is amazing! She currently teaches at Mystic Paper and has been for eight

months, she has been scrapbooking since she was 15, that equals fifteen years,yes, she is 30 so she has seen a lot
of trends come in and out. Caroline just loves creating and documenting her family's life and making beautiful things.
She  loves taking old "things" and somehow turning them into a book.  For example, altering encyclopedias, childrens
board books, finding various objects and mounting them to the cover objects such as, clocks, compasses, and letters.
